Zrinjevac Park
Main city park – Zrinjevac Park
Located in the center of the city lies the biggest and most beautiful park in the Mostar. The park is called Zrinjevac Park after famous Croatian family Zrinski that have lived in the 16th and 17th century. Today, it is one of the most favorite places for all citizens of Mostar for walking, relaxing and enjoying beautiful weather in the summer time.
Park lies down between some of the most significant paces in the city. From one side there is the Square of Croatian notables and the Croatian Lodge “Herceg Stjepan Kosaca”. From the other there is Spanish Square and the Old Gymnasium, one of the most graceful buildings and squares of the city. Also, next to it there is another famous building, Sniper Tower. If you climb on top of this building you can have charming look on park especially in the evenings when the sun starts to fall down.
Greenery, clean and fresh air, the smell of water from the sprayer used to keep grass green and shadow of trees will make this place the best for breaks, have a quick lunch or just to stop and enjoy life.
One special monument
Even though Zrinjevac Park may be special to citizens of Mostar, there is one monument that makes it special for everyone. The monument of Bruce Lee. That is right, Mostar has a monument of Bruce Lee! It is made of bronze in natural size of Bruce Lee, about one meter and seventy inches, made by an academy sculptor Ivan Fijolić. The statue was the first public monument of Bruce Lee unveiled in the world, with a statue in Hong Kong being revealed one day later. The monument is a symbol of solidarity in the ethnically divided city and that is way it was built. Or as people in Mostar like to say: Why did they built it? Why not?
