Blidinje Nature Park
Blidinje Nature Park is located in the central part of the high mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The park is established on the 30th of April 1995. Located on 1185m above sea level, this unique vast plain is really breathtaking. It is an oasis of peace and natural beauty, especially if you visit it in spring or summer time. Ideal for relaxation and walks through nature, you will definitely feel rejuvenated after you visit it. Blidinje is home of endemic species of pine munika, and the air is really fresh and healthy here. It’s a great place for mountain biking, and you can enjoy horse riding through amazing nature too. In the winter time, it is a destination for skiing and enjoying in snow.
In the central part of the park, there is Dugo Polje and in the southeastern part, there is beautiful Blidinje Lake. Combination of these two provides its visitors ideal combination and creates a perfect environment for relaxation and holidays. Around two of these, there are mountain Čvrsnica and Vran Mountain. They are ideal for mountain climbing and nice little walks through nature. In these mountains, there is also a ski resort which during winter times provides tourists the opportunity to enjoy winter sports.
Besides that, you can enjoy in a specific zoo and botanical reserve called Masna Luka. In this area, there are several sources of clean mountain water which is full of diverse flora and fauna surrounded by forest. In the midst of the pine forest, there is a beautiful church of St. Elias. You can pet one very friendly dog if you want while you’re there! Also, in the area of the park, there are many other attractions based on history, like tombstones in the area of Dugo Polje.
Hajdučke Vrleti
Park Blidinje is completely divided from the modern world and it is a perfect place if you are seeking for peace and quietness. The park is a mere two-hour drive from the Adriatic Sea which is ideal for one-day trips to the sea. Also, Blidinje Park provides a special attraction, „the Hajduk Republic of Mijat Tomić“ located in the largest gastronomy facility in the park, Hajdučke Vrleti. This facility and others too provide visitors the opportunity to try some local gastronomic specialties. In Hajdučke Vrleti all food is authentic and domestic. You should definitely try uštipci (doughnut-like fried dough balls) and pura sa lučenicom (polenta mixed with yogurt and garlic). This cozy old-fashioned restaurant is a must visit if you’re in Blidinje.
